CBRN Training Simulant

CBRN warfare is an invisible enemy, which makes it hard to train soldiers to deal with it in a proper way. Highly trained soldiers and skilled operatives are the backbone of CBRN reaction forces and special units. To achieve the high standards, they require realistic exercises which are an important tool in their training.

OWR has developed the TOXsim to provide realistic simulation that helps trainees gain essential experience and expertise to be capable to handle a real situation. It has been developed in cooperation with the German Army NBC Defence and self-protection school in Sonthofen and has been used in several mass decontamination exercises.

OWR has enhanced TOXsim to provide a completed family of suitable training agents which are exclusive to OWR. TOXsim is a non-toxic, sticky liquid which has similar properties to chemical warfare agents. It can be used to train personnel how to deal with contamination and teach them documentation procedures of humans, casualties, vehicles and equipment without danger.

It can be used on the human skin and most materials. It behaves similarly to sticky chemical agents and can be decontaminated by most training decontamination agents or washed off with water. Residues are glow under UV-light or can be indicated by Detection Paper EX. Different types of TOXsim are available for different types of training e.g. high and low viscosity TOXsim, fluorescent indicators, simulating compounds that “alarm” Detection Paper EC or cause alarms in common chemical detectors like IMS.

When used in combination with TOXsim stimulants, OWR Detection Paper EC acts like live agent detection paper. It can be used in field training (e.g. terrain contamination), personal protection equipment drills (correct undressing), exercises in decontamination of vehicles, equipment, personal and casualties. Detection Paper Ex is part of the Detection Paper EX-S has self-adhesive backing and can easily stick to a uniform, boots protection, clothing etc. Detection Paper EX-S is an optional accessory to the standard TOXsim Kit.
