Mobile broadband is now a reality. Data rates of up to 100 Mbps are already possible with fourth generation networks and the deployment of mobile communication networks is advancing rapidly due to the explosion in mobile data volumes. Remote radio systems have established themselves as a standard solution on the wireless infrastructure market and have taken the place of conventional base stations with corrugated coaxial cables.

Remote radio systems reduce the energy consumed by the network by up to 30%, depending on the system configuration, and improve network quality and network coverage respectively as signal losses have been eliminated in the corrugated cables

A further advantage of remote radio systems is the use of optical data connections, referred to as FTTA (fiber-to-the-antenna), to link the remote radio head (RRH) to the base station. In conventional systems, the distance between the base station and antenna is limited to approx. 100 m due to the analogue signal losses. This means that expensive telecommunications rooms have to be leased near the antenna or costly containers installed on flat roofs or other outdoor areas and supplied with high-voltage current.

Optical Ethernet transmits the digital data between the base station and RRH virtually loss-free and permits distances of up to 20 km. Consequently, base stations can be centrally housed in more inexpensive telecommunications rooms (e.g. base station hotels) and network planning is rendered more flexible and modular.

The Riedel Artist system can be interfaced to the Telex/RTS ADAM system in a manner that provides both logically passive four wire conference group connections and active logic point to point connections with panel key tally In a typical interface situation a combination of conference line and point to point connections is used to connect two independent systems together such as when two video trucks are used at the same venue. Typical conference lines used are Production, Cameras, Engineering, and Audio. More or less may often be used. Interconnecting these is straight forward and requires only cross-connecting the audio between 4 wire utility ports within each system. The only issues to be considered are level matching and potential ground loops. Both of these potential issues are easily solved as most modern systems have built in transformers and level adjust capabilities. This is true of the Riedel Artist and the RTS ADAM systems.

Mil-Std-1553 was released in August 1973, and was first used in the F-16 fighter plane. Back then, a full 1553 Bus Controller (BC) + Remote Terminal (RT) design spread across 3 cards filled up with military grade TTL family components (54LSXX). The design was usually based on micro code for control and state-of-the-art logic for designing the 1553 decoder.
In the \'80s, ICs (integrated Circuits) for 1553 decoder encoder emerged, and 1553 was reduced to a single card with less TTL devices and higher complexity ICs dedicated to specific functions.

The overall comfort of combat uniforms for cold environments is not only due to the thermal insulation characteristics of the garments but also influenced strongly by the water vapour resistance (\"breathability\"). Both insulation and breathability is of great importance for the soldier and it is hard to say if one is more important than the other. Breathability affects the amount of humidity in the microclimate of the garment and thus the perceived wear comfort which is very closely related to the mental and physical performance of the soldier (Figure 1).

One of the main objectives of the RAPTOR RXi is to detect and identify new signals. \"New\" signals can be RF surveillance devices, unlicensed stations or unwanted signals such as interference. Searching for \"threat\" transmitters is increasingly like \"looking for a needle in a haystack\". However, the RAPTOR RXi provides the tools to look through this \"haystack\" and find \"threat\" transmitters simply and reliably. The Raptor RXi Counter Surveillance Receiver scans from 10kHz to 26GHz in under 4s, detecting even the briefest pulsed transmissions. Featuring a fast Core 2 Duo processor, its multiple software tools and demodulators detect frequency-hopping, burst mode and spread spectrum devices as well as analogue audio and video signals. Two spectrum analyser windows allow the user to simultaneously view the whole spectrum and zoom in on individual frequencies. The \'Waterfall\' display mode gives an intuitive display of signals over time. The Raptor is as a portable device, allowing reference scans to be easily run in different areas of a building, operating either from an internal rechargeable battery or an external supply. Mobile broadband is now a reality. Data rates of up to 100 Mbps are already possible with fourth generation networks and the deployment of mobile communication networks is advancing rapidly due to the explosion in mobile data volumes. Remote radio systems have established themselves as a standard solution on the wireless infrastructure market and have taken the place of conventional base stations with corrugated coaxial cables. Remote radio systems reduce the energy consumed by the network by up to 30%, depending on the system configuration, and improve network quality and network coverage respectively as signal losses have been eliminated in the corrugated cables A further advantage of remote radio systems is the use of optical data connections, referred to as FTTA (fiber-to-the-antenna), to link the remote radio head (RRH) to the base station. In conventional systems, the distance between the base station and antenna is limited to approx. 100 m due to the analogue signal losses. This means that expensive telecommunications rooms have to be leased near the antenna or costly containers installed on flat roofs or other outdoor areas and supplied with high-voltage current. Optical Ethernet transmits the digital data between the base station and RRH virtually loss-free and permits distances of up to 20 km. Consequently, base stations can be centrally housed in more inexpensive telecommunications rooms (e.g. base station hotels) and network planning is rendered more flexible and modular. More...

Introduction
Inertial navigation is the process of calculating the position and velocity of a body (such as an aircraft) from self-contained accelerometers and gyroscopes. Attitude and Heading Reference Systems, better known as AHRS, are multi-axis sensors that provide heading, attitude and yaw information for aircraft or any subject moving in free space.

AHRS are designed to replace traditional mechanical gyroscopic flight instruments and provide superior reliability and accuracy. They consist of either solid-state or MEMS gyroscopes, accelerometers and magnetometers on all three axes. Some AHRS use GPS receivers to improve long-term stability of the gyroscopes. A Kalman filter is typically used to compute the solution from these multiple sources.

Introduction Some new technologies such as Extended Area Protection & Survivability (EAPS) are being developed to counter incoming enemy attacks. These programs require increasing utilization of long-range artillery and can represent an unacceptably high risk of civilian causalities. Therefore, more precise artillery systems, smart munitions and smart missiles are increasingly required and accuracy of ammunitions must be enhanced to meet \"Smart Artillery\" performances independently of any GPS control. Such projectiles also integrate independent, reliable and redundant self-destruct mechanism that can also be based on sensors such as accelerometers that have to perform not only after the initial shock but also after impact. If a target is not detected or not attained, the weapon either self-destructs, eliminating the threat to civilian from explosive remnant or render itself inert. Note that increased accuracy means also that fewer rounds are needed, resulting in a big reduction in the logistics tail of artillery units..

Introduction
Mid accuracy navigation systems (IMU), AHRS and control systems require gyros and accelerometers to predict the position of a moving object in free space. Accelerometers are used to perform initial leveling and to correct the gyro drift on the move.

In this whitepaper we compare the main parameters of the ±10g Colibrys accelerometers MS9010.D and RS9010.A currently under development, to support the system designers and as a guideline for optimum selection of an accelerometer. Four main parameters are compared including bias repeatability, scale factor, axis misalignment and vibration rectification error. MS9010.D has a long term bias repeatability of better than 5mg while first result on RS9010.A samples is better than 1.5mg. The scale factor repeatability of MS9010.D is 400ppm whilst the value for RS9010.A is 150ppm. In addition, the vibration rectification error of RS9010.A has a potential to be better than 100µg/g².
