Spares,Components and Ancillaries
The basic replacement parts, sub-assemblies and support equipment to insure the continued availability of the operational capability of aircraft and defense systems are referred to as spares, components and ancillaries. Spares are individual parts, which may be substituted such as mechanical, electrical, avionics, and structural parts, which are used in the maintenance procedures or even in overhaul. Components are made of more integrated components like pumps, actuators, sensors and control units which are components of bigger systems. Accessories and other auxiliary equipment such as tools, consumables, ground handling aids, and installation kits will be part of the ancillaries to ensure that they run seamlessly and are easily maintained. They are usually placed in maintenance facilities, airbases and production surroundings to minimize downtime, extend equipment life, and ensure that military and aerospace platforms are available at all times of the mission.
