airforce / communication navigation equipment

Air Force communication and navigation equipment are paramount for maintaining flight mission trajectory. They form an integral part of avionics.

Air Force communication equipment is present in the nose of the aircraft, and interfaced with the pilot through cables and subsystems. VHF aviation communication system is a prime example. It allows aircraft-to-aircraft and aircraft-to-command-center communications.

Air Force navigation equipment is present in the nose and the fuselage of the craft. It determines position and direction on or above the surface of the Earth. GPS and WAAS are examples of satellite based systems, while VOR or LORAN is ground based.
