airforce / precision casting forging machined components

The Defense industry uses precision casting to manufacture its products. A wide selection of metals, alloys and composites are forged and machined into components using high precision tools, which is essential for military aviation applications.

Precision casting is called investment casting or lost-wax casting. Portions of the fan, compressor, combustor, and turbines sections of a jet aircraft engine; high-temperature rotating blades and stationary vanes for the hot sections of jet aircraft engines, aerofoils for small and large jet engine aircrafts, etc. are casted using investment casting.

Air Force also uses rotating close-die forgings for making components of the turbine jet engine.
