Established in 2006, Meteksan Savunma, a Turkish defense technology company, is known for providing sensor systems, communication systems, underwater acoustic systems and platform simulators. It is also part of Bilkent Holding, a large conglomerate funded by Bilkent University, which is Turkey's 15th largest industrial group, and privately held.
The company is one of the main suppliers of the Turkish Armed Forces, and has been involved in various projects such as missile defense systems, attack helicopters, UAVs, corvettes and underwater weapons systems.
Meteksan’s product range includes Helikopter MILDAR (Fire Control Radar for Helicopters), UAV-MILDAR (SAR/GMTI Radar for UAV’s), Retinar PTR Perimeter Surveillance Radar, OKIS Automated Take-off and Landing System for UAV’s, Radar and Laser Altimeters, Data Links for Missile Systems, Pelikan Missile Seeker Simulator, YAKAMOS Hull Mounted Sonar, Transducers and Hydrophones, Underwater Early Warning Sensor Networks, Damage Control Simulator, Fire Training Simulator.
Meteksan was designated as a ‘Center of Excellence in Underwater Acoustics’ by Turkey's Under secretariat for Defense Industries in 2009. The company is the first organization to be designated as part of a Turkish government initiative to increase the output of its local defense industries. Since 2010, the company became one of the fastest growing private-sector companies of defense industry in Turkey as Meteksan have launched a product oriented strategy within the defense electronics.
The company employs 270 personnel, where more than 200 high degree engineers comprise the direct technological workforce. Additionally, research institutions and university research centers join to the partnership.
