Russia awarded a $ 402 Million USD for the production of Air-to-Surface anti tank missiles. Russian Ministry Of Defence has awarder a contract worth RUR 13 Billion( $402 Million USD) for the production of Air-To-Surface anti tank missiles designed to be launched from military aircraft and strike ground targets on land, at sea, or both. This contract is one of the largest state defence orders in recent years, as awaarded to Izhmash arms factory. Izhmash will be delivering an unknown quantity of Vikhr-1 long-range, supersonic anti-tank missiles, which is used in various Russian attack helicopters. It is believed that this contract will allow Izhmash to tackle most of its financial troubles. Izhmash is to deliver the Vikhr-1 long-range, supersonic antiarmor missiles by the end of 2015, company CEO Konstantin Busygin said. Izhmash has asked the Russian government for financial assistance to complete its merger with gun-maker Izhmekh, under the Kalashnikov brand. Once delivered in 2015, these missiles will equip the Kamov Ka-50 ‘Hokum’ (Black Shark) and Ka-52 ‘Hokum-B’ (Alligator) attack helicopters, as well as the Sukhoi Su-25 ‘Frogfoot’ ground attack aircraft. They can also be carried by the Mil Mi-24 ‘Hind’ and Mi-28 ‘Havoc’ (Night Hunter) helicopters if required.
