Introduction:

Elbit Systems has secured a contract worth approximately $350 million from an international customer to upgrade Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), reinforcing its position in advanced armoured vehicle modernisation programs.

Features:

Under the agreement, Elbit Systems will upgrade the tanks with advanced technologies aimed at extending their operational lifespan and improving battlefield readiness. The programme includes the replacement and enhancement of critical onboard systems, featuring lightweight, high-performance electro-optical sights equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities for day-and-night surveillance, target detection, and target tracking.

The modernisation package will also incorporate advanced fire control systems, electric gun and turret drive systems, secure communications solutions, situational awareness capabilities, and a comprehensive mid-life upgrade package.

In addition, the contract covers the supply of spare parts, maintenance services, and technical support to ensure sustained operational availability. The scope of work also includes the integration of a secure, high-capacity voice communication system to enhance crew coordination and battlefield connectivity.

The project is scheduled to be executed over a four-year period.
