Aviation electronics is commonly referred to as avionics which are the electronic systems in the aircrafts that support aircrafts in communication, navigation, monitoring and flight control. These systems include cockpit instruments, radar, flight management computers, autopilot systems, sensors and communication radios that provide real-time communication between aircraft, pilots, and ground control. In both manned and unmanned platforms, advanced digital technologies capable of processing flight data, improving situational awareness, and assisting in making mission critical decisions are also integrated in avionics. These systems are greatly applied in military and defence aviation and form the core of modern aircraft operations, ensuring their proper navigation, safe communication and proper systems control. Aviation electronics is a vital aspect of improving the flight safety, operational reliability and the performance of the entire missions of complex aerospace systems by unifying different electronic subsystems into a shared architecture.
