Firefly Aerospace Awarded Multi-Launch Agreement with L3Harris

6 September 2023

Firefly Aerospace, Inc., a comprehensive space transportation company, has officially inked a multi-launch agreement with L3Harris Technologies for three dedicated launches scheduled to take place in 2026 on Firefly's Alpha vehicle. This strategic agreement further solidifies Firefly's position as a frontrunner in small-lift launch services. The company is accelerating the production of its Alpha vehicle to meet the escalating demands of both governmental and commercial clients.

Bill Weber, CEO of Firefly Aerospace, expressed the company's pride in supporting L3Harris in their continuous mission to deliver satellite systems that advance national security. He highlighted Firefly's well-equipped team, state-of-the-art facilities, and robust manufacturing capabilities, all of which are primed to swiftly respond to the industry's call for small- and medium-lift launch services. This agility ensures the success of each mission for every customer.

Firefly is geared to offer L3Harris rapid launch capabilities, enabling direct access to low Earth orbit at a more cost-effective rate and catering to the responsive space requirements of the U.S. government. These three missions are scheduled to launch from Firefly's SLC-2 launch site at the Vandenberg Space Force Base.

The Alpha vehicle from Firefly boasts the ability to launch payloads exceeding 1,000 kg into low Earth orbit, rendering it a cost-effective, responsive, and dependable choice for launching small satellites and spacecraft. In anticipation of multiple government and commercial launches, Firefly is actively scaling up production of the Alpha at its rocket manufacturing and testing facility in Briggs, Texas. Simultaneously, the company is expanding its facilities to accommodate the ongoing development of its medium launch vehicle, set to make its maiden flight in 2025.
