Expleo and Spirit AeroSystems sign strategic agreement for aerospace services from Tulsa, Oklahoma

3 October 2023

Expleo, a renowned global provider of engineering, technology, and consulting services, has entered into a strategic partnership with Spirit AeroSystems to offer advanced digital engineering services for significant aerospace initiatives. This collaboration will operate from a new facility located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Expleo's role will involve providing engineering services to support the development of cutting-edge aerospace projects. The Tulsa-based facility, in addition to Expleo's regional headquarters in Wichita, Kansas, will leverage state-of-the-art digital technologies, including AI, digital twins, and automation, to enhance cost efficiency and expedite time-to-market.

Graham Younger, VP of Aerospace at Expleo, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, "We're thrilled to strengthen our relationship with Spirit through this agreement. Our partnership with Spirit has deep roots built on trust, and we take pride in how our collaboration has spurred innovation in the aerospace sector. This facility will facilitate the exchange of ideas and enable Spirit to harness Expleo's engineering expertise alongside cutting-edge digital technologies and processes to accelerate sustainable innovation, boost productivity, and get new aircraft off the ground."

This collaboration builds upon a longstanding commercial association between Expleo and Spirit, including a three-year agreement based at Spirit's Belfast facility in Northern Ireland.

The new Tulsa office will mark Expleo's seventh presence in the United States, with plans to employ 30 full-time Expleo professionals by the end of 2023, and further growth anticipated in the coming year.

In the U.S., Expleo already has 350 experts serving the aerospace and automotive sectors. Spirit will also gain access to Expleo's extensive global network of over 17,500 professionals, including engineering experts in Europe and India.

Will Hague, General Manager of Expleo USA, emphasized the strategic significance of expanding into Tulsa, stating, "Our expansion into Tulsa aligns with our ambitious vision for the aerospace and defense industries in the U.S. It represents a pivotal step in providing the skills required to meet the growing demand in these sectors, creating highly skilled jobs, and fostering expertise crucial to engineering in the digital era."

Dr. Sean Black, Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, and Chief Engineer at Spirit AeroSystems, highlighted their commitment to talent development, stating, "This complements the ongoing investment in talent we are making in our Wichita Center of Excellence, where we have hired over 200 graduate and midcareer engineers in the last year and continue to be laser-focused on engaging the future aerospace leaders of tomorrow."

Expleo's core principles of bold thinking and reliable action underpin their approach to delivering excellence for their customers.

Younger concluded, "Spirit is a vital partner for Expleo on a global scale, and we are proud to embark on this new venture in Tulsa, alongside our presence in the Wichita market."
