Elbit Systems Ltd. has proudly announced the acquisition of a $109 million contract to supply BAE Systems Hägglunds (BSH) with the Iron Fist Active Protection System (APS) for the European customer's CV90 platform. The contract spans a duration of three years.

Distinguished by its compact design, light weight, and minimal power requirements, the Iron Fist APS offers a comprehensive 360-degree protection solution for armored platforms against a wide array of anti-armor threats, encompassing rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and even kinetic energy (KE) tank rounds. This protection extends across diverse terrains, from open expanses to complex urban environments.

The APS sensor integrates cutting-edge technologies, combining search-and-track radar and infrared cameras with advanced data fusion algorithms. This synergy enables swift, dependable, and precise detection, identification, and tracking of threats. To neutralize incoming threats, the system deploys an explosive charge in the vicinity of the threat, creating a shockwave that effectively dismantles or deflects the threat at a safe distance from the protected platform.

Yehuda (Udi) Vered, General Manager of Elbit Systems Land, highlighted the heightened vulnerability of armored fighting vehicles and tanks in recent conflicts. He emphasized the Iron Fist's proven effectiveness against a spectrum of threats, including kinetic energy rounds and drones, safeguarding troops inside combat vehicles by neutralizing these threats well before they pose a danger.
