5 September 2023

ARS Aleut Remediation, LLC, a prominent figure in the environmental services sector, is pleased to announce the acquisition of a $5.5 million task order for a mission of paramount importance: the secure management and disposal of low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) and low-level radioactive objects (LLROs). This substantial task order, secured through Aleut's Indefinite Delivery / Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Contract with the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command (JMC), Safety and Risk Management Directorate, reaffirms Aleut's steadfast commitment to environmental excellence and responsible waste handling.

The project encompasses a comprehensive scope of work, including waste profiling, meticulous packaging, secure transportation, and final disposal of LLRW and LLROs originating from the Installation Restoration (IR) Site-10 Shoreline Slag Area (SSA) at the Naval Air Station – North Island (NASNI) in San Diego County, California. Aleut will collaborate closely with their esteemed partner, NAC Philotechnics, to ensure the successful completion of this critical mission.

Guided by Aleut's JMC-approved broker, NAC Philotechnics, specially designed intermodal containers will be strategically deployed at NASNI IR Site-10 SSA. These containers will be expertly loaded with waste materials retrieved during the on-site remediation process. Aleut's partnership with NAC Philotechnics, a highly regarded service provider with over four decades of experience, will facilitate the execution of approximately 200 shipments of LLRW and LLROs to the Waste Control Specialists (WCS) facility in Andrews, Texas—an esteemed JMC-approved disposal facility known for its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship.

Mark Gragg, General Manager of Aleut, expressed, "We consider it a great honor to be entrusted with this significant task order, which underscores Aleut's unwavering dedication to safeguarding the environment and public health. Our collaboration with NAC Philotechnics exemplifies our commitment to harnessing expertise and experience to ensure the secure and responsible management of radioactive waste materials."
