airforce / engines transmission drive

Engines, transmission and drive form the propulsion system of an aircraft. Military jets require high thrusts for prolonged periods, high velocities, minimum drag, and high maneuverability to carry out missions.

Various types of fighter jet engines have been in use for decades. These include Turbojet, Turbine Powered, Airbreathing, Turboprop and Turboshaft, Propfan, Scramjet, Pulsed Jet, Rocket, and Hybrid.

Transmission and drive systems refer to transmission of power between the engine and various other components. In fighter jets, however, no additional gearboxes are required. The power transmission is done by the turbine and the compressor using a rigid shaft.

GTRE, Lockheed, Northrop Grumman, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce and Rotax are few of the hundreds of jet engine manufacturers across the globe.

We will soon fill the category with the right suppliers.
