25 March 2019

MONTGOMERY, Ala., March 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly 50 personnel from the U.S. Air Force Business Enterprise Systems Directorate based on Maxwell Air Force Base's Gunter Annex in Montgomery, Ala., were part of a design blitz at MGMWERX March 19 to 21.

The blitz, facilitated by Restless Creation, took the group through a series of exercises to get at goal setting for the Air Force's latest software coding team, BESPIN – Business Enterprise Systems Programming Innovation.

Dr. Will Roper, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology, introduced BESPIN as the third team in the Air Force's coding arsenal March 15 at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The team, which will focus on agile development and operations within the Air Force like its Kessel Run sister in Boston, used the MGMWERX innovation hub and its design blitz facilitation to look at a specific challenge statement – "How might BESPIN collaborate with the Air Force Aircrew Records Management System (ARMS) users and program team for improvement, so the Air Force can maximize the availability and effectiveness of the Airmen in aerial operations career fields."

After several rounds of ideation, BESPIN will walk away with a plan to position the organization to effectively leverage emerging innovative concepts and lead the Air Force as the premier example of a cutting edge and innovative acquisition authority.

"This is right at the heart of what MGMWERX is here to do – melding ideas to generate solutions," said Steve Werner, MGMWERX director. "As an innovation hub facilitating ideation and design events like this, we help to quickly peel back the problem set to focus on resolving the key issues for the warfighter and our national defense."
