Rally To Curb Military Spending

16 April 2016

A host of labor and peace advocates gathered in front of the Duluth Federal building for a rally to put people first.

The groups believe too much is spent on military operations and wants to see tax dollars spread more evenly across the board.

They want more money spent on education, science and the environment.

"We spend way more than anybody else in the world. We have the strongest military, we have the most well equipped military. We have the best weapons and so why do we keep spending more and more and more every year? It does not make sense and we need to change that," said Philip Anderson, president of Veterans for Peace of the Duluth and Superior area.

The groups at the rally also believe the current budget set forth by Congress does not fairly represent the people.
