A military grant agreement was reached Thursday between Lebanon and China, the Lebanese Army said in a statement. The agreement was signed between visiting Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China Gen. Fan Changlong and Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Jean Kahwagi during a meeting at the latter’s office in Yarze. In a statement, Changlong said that his country had prepared “an aid program for the [Lebanese] military for the upcoming years.” He stressed that the cooperation agreement was the natural result of the historic relationship that brings the two countries together. Kahwagi praised the cooperation between the Lebanese and Chinese armies and the assistance the Chinese have been providing. The Lebanese Army also said in a separate statement that the military had received logistical equipment from UNIFIL’s Italian battalion.
