Sintavia boosts rocket manufacturing capabilities with two AMCM M4K-4 printers

19 January 2021

Syntabia, which designs and additionally manufactures critical thermal engineering components for the aviation, defense and space industries, has two units from AMCM GmbH in Starnberg, Germany. Announced that it has purchased an M4K-4 printer. Both of these two new M4K-4s are larger versions of the commercially successful EOS M400-4 printer, using four 1kW lasers and a single unit measuring 450mm x 450mm x 1m. You can print parts. As one of North America's largest rocket printers, Sintavia will use this new machine to expand our portfolio of propulsion office design and manufacturing services for the fast-growing commercial space industry.

Brian Neff, CEO of Sintavia, said: "Since purchasing our first M400-4 three years ago, Sintavia has been reproducible and reliable to print ultra-thin walls like those found in rocket propulsion chambers with a quad laser, while spending enormous resources. We now have eight M400-4 quad laser printers, and we hope that the strategy adopted by the M400-4 will be equally successful with these new M4K-4 units. We are pleased to be the first rocket printer manufacturer in North America to expand the reach of the M4K-4 to commercial customers in the space industry. "

Developed by EOS affiliate AMCM, the M4K-4 is an increased depth and width model of the EOS M400-4 printer, with a more powerful laser and an enhanced cooling system. The main reason the M400-4 was designed was to meet the demands of commercial rocket launch customers, who sought ways to reduce traditional coupling processes and optimize propulsion room assembly. For most of the existing commercial rockets currently in production, the M4K-4 can manufacture the entire propulsion chamber assembly in a single unit, including optimized regenerative cooling tubes, significantly reducing manufacturing complexity and time. Will be done. The two new printers will be delivered in June and July 2021 and will be mounted on high performance copper-nickel alloys.
