CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- STATS, the worldwide leader in sports data and intelligence, announced that Jennifer Hobbs, Senior Data Scientist, will present at the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Sports Analytics Conference on Friday, October 19 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Hobbs will present her abstract, “Understanding Sport Through Player Tracking Data.” The presentation discusses how STATS’ leading player-tracking and machine-learning techniques can enhance game analysis and predictive elements. By learning the appropriate representation of multi-agent tracking data, STATS is able to predict how teams and players move and behave in various situations.

“As tracking data becomes more prominent across sports, it is important that we glean insights to tell better stories about the game and create learnings that will lead to better predictions,” said Hobbs. “STATS has a great relationship with CMU, collaborating on several research projects, and I’m thrilled to discuss this research with countless students and alumni.”

The CMU Sports Analytics Conference will take place Friday, October 19 through Saturday, October 20 in Baker Hall of the CMU campus. The event brings together CMU students, alumni and prominent data analysts across sports. For more information, visit: https://cmusportsanalytics.com/conference2018.html.
