Reconstruction of the Greek Defense Industry – Proposals Union of Greek Aerospace & Defense Companies (EHEA)
Athens, May 07, 2015: On May 5 & 6, 2015 it was organized in Athens with a big event success at the EXPOSEC DEFENSEWORLD International Congress 2015 in which among others Speakers were the Minister of National Defense Mr. Kammenos, the Deputy Minister Mr. Ischos, other Ministers of the Greek Government and prominent personalities of domestic and international defense and security agencies. The President of the Board of Directors of EULEX participated as a guest speaker and IDE (INTRACOM Defense Electronics) CEO Mr. George Troulinos.
In his suggestion, Mr. Troulinos referred to the difficult situation of the home defense industries in our country as well as the weaknesses and impacts that have resulted from the harmonization of national legislation with Community Directive 2009/81 and put forward concrete proposals that will help reconstruct them defense industries.
He stressed the need to maintain the existing production infrastructure for meeting specific needs of the Armed Forces as well as industries to involved in the maintenance / support of weapons systems with the recommendation consortia. At the same time, he said that it is necessary to target the funding multinational and national R & D programs, with the ultimate aim of production of products not only for the Greek Armed Forces but also for the Hellenic Armed Forces promoting them abroad. He also added that their policy should be strengthened industrial cooperation through the objectives of the pending National Defense Industrial Strategy and Forecasts of Security of Supply and maintenance.
Finally, he pointed out that the competent authorities should focus on domestic defense industry, which with the implementation of the above proposals will contributes positively not only to defense and security but also to its economic boost of our country.
