On October 14, 2025, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed its commitment to expanding defence industry cooperation with Türkiye, following high-level talks in Hanoi between General Phan V?n Giang and Secretary of Turkish Defence Industries Haluk Gorgun. This marks a concrete step toward implementing the strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Industry Cooperation, which was signed in July 2025 as part of ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral and multilateral defence activities in line with national capabilities and requirements.

During the meetings, the two delegations evaluated regional security trends, underlining the MoU's significance as a framework for joint projects, sharing procurement policies, and enhancing technology exchange tailored to both nations. General Giang stressed that Vietnam's procurement from Türkiye is focused solely on self-defence capacity building, aligning with its 'Four No’s' defence policy. The dialogue also highlighted increasing exchanges of high-level delegations, mutual participation in defence exhibitions, and structured collaboration on defence equipment acquisitions.

Both leaders agreed to intensify information sharing, update regulatory frameworks, and continue supporting defence expos, reflecting a long-term strategy to bolster Vietnam’s defence self-reliance and production capability. Secretary Gorgun underscored the critical role of defence cooperation in bilateral ties, expressing hope that the MoU would lead to further joint ventures and trust-building initiatives, cementing Vietnam-Türkiye relations at the core of the region's industrial defence landscape.
