BAE Systems Awarded $48 Million Contract for Advanced Communications-Electronics Technologies

12 November 2025

BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems Inc., headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, was today awarded a $48 million firm-fixed-price contract by the United States government to provide study, design, development, enhancement, testing, and procurement of advanced communications-electronics technologies. This award continues BAE’s role as a critical partner in maintaining and evolving U.S. military’s secure, agile, and resilient communications infrastructure, which is essential for joint operations, strategic deterrence, and advanced battle management across domains. The contracted technologies encompass next-generation digital communications, tactical networking, signal encryption, and robust anti-jamming capabilities critical for both current and future threats, particularly in contested and electronically denied environments.

The contract covers research and development services, engineering support, and delivery of bespoke systems tailored for integration with Army, Air Force, and joint-service battle management architectures. BAE Systems will leverage its expertise in electromagnetic spectrum operations and advanced electronics manufacturing for rapid prototyping and deployment of cutting-edge solutions addressing emerging needs in data throughput, network resilience, and cyber situational awareness. With a focus on modularity and interoperability, these systems are expected to increase the effectiveness of military operations while ensuring secure exchange of mission-critical information at the tactical edge as well as within strategic command centers.

Part of the work will involve rigorous testing of hardware and software systems under simulated battlefield conditions, with requirements for scalability to support satellite communications, ground-based mobile networks, and mission aircraft systems. The contract award follows a competitive solicitation process, with BAE recognized for its demonstrated expertise in delivering on complex communications-electronics projects that combine innovative engineering, compliance with Department of Defense cybersecurity frameworks, and lifecycle support. In addition to strengthening BAE’s R&D pipeline, this project is projected to create jobs and drive investment in specialized electronics manufacturing and information assurance disciplines within the U.S. defense industrial base.

The advanced communications technologies to be delivered under this contract will support Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) initiatives, providing the Navy, Army, and Air Force with tools needed for rapid, secure, and adaptive battle management and interoperability with allied systems. BAE will also progress software-defined radios, multi-band antennas, and advanced cryptographic modules aimed at equipping military units facing adversarial electronic warfare threats. The rapid enhancement and deployment of these communications capabilities serve the Department of Defense’s intent to maintain technological superiority, reduce risks associated with legacy systems, and ensure operational resilience under kinetic and non-kinetic attack scenarios. Delivery milestones and program reviews will be conducted throughout 2026, with the initial technology integration phases prioritizing U.S. homeland defense and deployed expeditionary forces in critical regions around the globe.
