Company : Reutech (Naval)

Category : Navy

Subcategory : Communications Systems and Equipment (Navy)

Key Products : Radar Sensors, Naval guns

Reutech's state of the art naval products span a wide variety of sensors, communications and weapon solutions employed by the South African Navy, and other Navies and Coast Guards around the globe.

Radar Sensors

Radar sensors designed and developed by the company includes X-Band Pulse Doppler and FMCW Air-Sea Surveillance Sensors as well as an X-Band Fire Control Optical Radar Tracker.

Naval guns

Reutech design, develop and manufactures weapon stabilisation and fire-directing systems, including gun drives for twin 35mm and 76mm turrets, for naval applications. The gun drives may be fitted to existing naval turrets as part of an upgrade programme including the replacement of hydraulic drives.

Reutech's Sea Rogue is a remotely operated stabilised weapon platform, controlled from within the bridge or ops room and can be equip with standard weapons, such as 7,62mm, 12,7mm and 20mm machine guns, as well as a 40mm grenade launchers.

The Sea Rogue is ideally suited to naval applications including:

  • Stabilised primary weapons on a patrol boat
  • Countermeasures against asymmetric threats on larger vessels

Naval Fuses for gun caliber 76mm to 140mm (5.5 inch) includes Dual Mode (Proximity / Point Detonation) fuses with enhanced miss distance engagement capabilities when used in an anti-missile or anti-aircraft role. Fuse performance is virtually unaffected by high sea states when operating only a few meters above the sea surface. All fuses are compatible with standard high explosive, pre-fragmented and practice rounds.

VHF and UHF Radio Systems

The new generation tactical, multi-mode, multi-band, VHF and UHF radio systems incorporate state-of-the-art Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology as well as a high level encryption together with fast frequency hopping and Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS). In addition, advanced digital modulation techniques are employed to yield enhanced performance in the VHF and UHF radio systems.

Reliable data networking capabilities are provided, enabling high data throughput, fast turnaround time and a simple interface to external applications.

Present naval environment requires communication equipments ability to handle co-siting interference. Consequently, radio performance in the VHF and UHF radio systems is optimised to cater for multiple installations in the ever demanding and crowded Command and Control environment.
