Racal Acoustics global growth recognised by Queen\'s Award for International Trad

21 April 2010

Racal Acoustics has today been honoured with a Queen's Award for Enterprise for International Trade after increasing its overseas revenues by 124% in three years. The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the UK's most prestigious Awards for business performance. They recognise and reward outstanding achievement by UK companies.

The award was announced today (April 21), the Queen's birthday. Racal Acoustics Limited has a long history of design, development and manufacture of audio ancillary equipment for the world's military markets. Based in Harrow in north-west London, the company employs approximately 180 staff.

Racal Acoustics products are designed to protect hearing and enhance communication in high and medium noise environments, such as aircraft, tracked and wheeled vehicles as well as for dismounted soldiers. The product range includes noise attenuating, lightweight and In-The-Ear headsets, handsets, microphones, field communications systems and avionics equipment.

Over the past five years, Racal Acoustics has undergone significant business process engineering to reflect the shifts and trends in the military market and enable this remarkable increase in overseas revenues. This included the overhaul of manufacturing and supply chain activities, the integration of 'lean manufacturing' techniques and a culture of continual improvement. The significant increase in revenues has been achieved by winning a number of new international programmes and developing key partnerships in overseas markets such as US, Canada, Australia and India.

Racal Acoustics Managing Director Geof Eeles said: "We are all immensely proud of winning this prestigious award. It really acknowledges the tremendous growth the company has enjoyed over the last years and clearly shows what a truly international business Racal Acoustics has become."

Advanced Ra6000 Ptt System Product Launch At Ausa

Military communication specialist Esterline Racal Acoustics, is set to launch its new RA6000 PTT System at this years AUSA Annual Meeting in Washington D.C.

Today’s soldiers are challenged by the increasing adoption of communication equipment through all aspects of their missions, including personal radios, ground and air based intercoms and radio platforms, needing to continuously monitor and transmit on these multiple nets.

Esterline Racal Acoustics has developed the advanced RA6000 PTT System, an ergonomically designed four channel Press-To-Talk (PTT) unit which provides simple connectivity to multiple communication sources. A convenient asset for mounted and dismounted operators alike, RA6000 allows the soldier to continuously monitor four communication channels simultaneously, typically two Soldier Radios, plus platform intercom and platform radio, and selectively transmit on them via four ergonomic and intuitive PTT buttons.

With a choice of headset style to suit the mission profile, including Circumaural and In-the-ear types, and supporting Talk-Through (TT) and Active Noise Reduction (ANR) technology, RA6000 delivers Enhanced Intelligibility, excellent Situational Awareness, and Hearing Protection against impulse (IED blast / weapons discharge) and continuous noise (vehicle /aircraft) on the battlefield.

Ideally suited for all commonly used soldier radio platforms, aircraft and vehicle intercom systems and platform radios, the RA6000 PTT System with its ergonomic design and advanced feature set, leads the way in providing comprehensive hearing protection and enables the soldier to simply and intuitively manage multiple communication sources. Rob Harrison, Product Manager, will be available to discuss your requirements for the RA6000 PTT System on the Esterline stand # 704. Please contact us if you are interested in securing a demonstration at AUSA.
