Since 1896 Brugg Cables has developed and manufactured cable and installation accessories for the transfer of data and supply of electricity. Fibre-optic Cables and Connectors
Maximum demand is placed on mobility, reliability and ruggedness of the Fibre-optic Cable and Connectors in military environment. Brugg Cables BRUmil, BRUtough and BRUpowermil cables have been developed for the most varied uses under the harshest environmental conditions. Finished off with military connectors, on various reels, these cable assemblies are virtually unbeatable, and guarantee a high level of availability combined with low life-cycle costs. To connect those cable assemblies, Brugg Cables deliver all kinds of adapting cables from military lens connectors to any standard connectors according to customer’s demand.
Cable Reels
For the various customer demands, Brugg Cables supply small hand reels from elastomer with cable length of e.g. 10 to 50 m over hand reels out of steel for larger lengths, typically 100 to 200m. The backpack Cable Reels comes with an aluminium reel and has either 500 m of BRUtogh or 1km of BRUmil cable. For larger communication distances the vehicle reels with aluminium or the steel reels for the extra large distance bring to perfection our range of up to 5 km per reel.
Lightning and Surge Protection
Brugg also offer surge and lightning protection solutions to prevent any harm coming to either people or equipment under canvas as the result of a lightning strike. The erection of masts discharge lightning into the ground by way of earth spikes.
The magnetic field caused by a lightning strike means that metallic cables can conduct dangerously high voltages, putting personnel at risk. Therefore, it is necessary to route all cables into the canvassed zone via the appropriate lightning arresters. The central feed point (CFP) serves the purpose of coarse protection and the distributed lightning protection filters in the equipment serve as fine protection.
Testing, Repair and Maintenance
Brugg Cables range includes all the resources needed – everything from mobile, optical testing equipment to field-proven repair kits. Brugg Cables have the necessary know-how to generate the maintenance and repair solutions required in a military environment.
