Cobham Antenna Systems, Microwave Antennas

Cobham Antenna Systems, Microwave Antennas – Ultra Wideband Antennas, Multi Beam Hub Base Station Antennas

Cobham Antenna Systems, Microwave Antennas is a leader in the design and manufacture of communication systems antennas. Antennas manufactured by Cobham Antenna Systems are robust and proven in use by leading businesses worldwide. Applications include Tactical Communications, Link16, Radar, IED Countermeasures, Surveillance, UAVs, Robots, COFDM, GPS, Telemetry, Satcoms, RFID, TETRA/PMR, Maritime, Broadcast, DAS and MIMO.

Cobham Antenna Systems, Microwave Antennas develop and manufacture for high specification sector and multi sector, directional flat panel, extended performance and ultra wideband Omni antennas for Security, Military, Satellite and Commercial applications. Cobham Antenna Systems undertakes antenna development projects, plus there are more than 1500 existing antenna designs available.

Ultra Wideband Directional and Omni Directional Antennas for DAS

Ultra Wideband Antennas are available for DAS – PMR, Tetra, GSM and Wireless LAN.  Directional, low profile spiral antennas provide circular polarization to give optimum coverage when mounted up, facing downwards.

Features of Directorial Antennas

  • Directional antennas
  • Frequency range from 140MHz to 6GHz
  • Polarisation can be circular, linear or dual slant

Multi-Beam Hub Base Station Antennas

Designed for high speed MIMO 4G (and beyond) urban access for backhaul, this multi-beam (2 x 6 beams each with 17dBi gain)and  narrow beam antenna can allow a dramatic increase in capacity over existing communication systems.

Features of Multi-Beam Hub Base Station Antennas

  • Azimuth coverage for each sector 15°
  • Polarisation Dual Slant ±45°
  • Gain 17dBi
  • Frequency 3.40 to 3.60GHz

Ultra Wideband Omni Antennas

Cobham Antenna Systems ultra wideband antennas (100MHz to 18GHz) cover all the bands in which high power amplifiers currently operate. Centre-fed bicones and hybrid biconical structures ensure that peak gain is on the horizon at all frequencies which is essential for countermeasures.

Features of Ultra Wideband Omni Antennas

  • Biconical omnis are fully efficient, vertically polarised antennas
  • Bandwidths from 3:1 to 30:1 are achievable
  • Frequencies from 100MHz to 18GHz
  • Ground plane independent
  • Elevation HPBW typically 30° to 60°
  • Gain 0 to 2dBi across the band
  • High power
  • Excellent azimuth patterns with low ripple
  • Link16 Omni antennas with NATO codification

Ultra Wideband Directional Antennas

Cavity Backed Planar Spiral:

  • Very wideband- 0.5 to 4GHz, 2 to 18GHz
  • Can be used stand-alone or as part of a Direction Finding array
  • Phase and/or amplitude matched
  • Gain 0 to 5dBiC
  • Circular polarization
  • HPBW 50° to 90° across the band

High Power Planar Spiral:

  • Frequency band 0.5 to 3GHz
  • Gain up to 8dBiC
  • Power rating up to 100W
  • High power and ultra wideband
  • Circular polarisation for RF jamming applications
  • Flat panel can be disguised if necessary

Blade-style and Small, Medium Gain Omni Antennas for Unmanned Airborne Vehicles and Stacked Omnis for Ground-based Robots

Blade can be dipole-like or monopole, depending on pattern required.

Blade Antennas are used for

  • Airborne and remote ground surveillance
  • Video transmission
  • Border patrol
  • Tactical systems

In all cases uninterrupted communications to the control centre is vital.

High gain collinear, vertically polarised Omni antennas are installed in aerodynamic structures.  Ku-band Omni antennas have circular polarisation and up to 4dBiC gain for Common Data Link (CDL) applications.  Blade antennas have been used for communication between airborne towed target and towing aircraft.
